New Grief Support Ministry in Sikeston, Missouri

Beginning in November, Peace Point Chapel will bring a new grief support group to Sikeston, Missouri. Joy Will Come in the Mourning, the group to be held monthly, will begin just in time for the holiday season, a notoriously difficult time for individuals experiencing grief and loss.

The facilitators, mother and daughter duo, Tina Moore and Rachel Ashworth, lost husband and father in winter 2024. At the time they felt lucky that Soozi Hovis agreed to host GriefShare meetings when they received her number from hospice services early this year. Hovis agreed to facilitate the program, despite it being a 12-week commitment and only the two of them were registered. Tina and Rachel completed the GriefShare program, which ended up being well-attended, however, they felt that they needed more.

Joy Will Come in the Mourning will be an ongoing grief support program to last as long as it's needed. The program includes a  short video, worksheets, and discussion. Guests are welcome to arrive early for a lunch meal before beginning the program which is based on SEASONS: The Changes of Grief and Loss published by AdventSource.

The first Joy meeting will happen on November 16, 2024:
LUNCH: 1 PM
MEETING: 2PM
